Apr. 16th, 2013 @ 12:48 am Some pics from Japan
Current Location: Kyoto, Japan
Current Mood: relaxedrelaxed
Some of these have already appeared on Twitter, some not.

View from the observatory on the 45th floor of the Tokyo city hall. On clear days, you can see Mt. Fuji from there. Unfortunately, we were not there on days that were clear enough.

The cherry blossom season is almost over, but we found quite a few late-blooming varieties in Shinjuku Gyoen.

Everybody wants to take a picture of the Golden Pavilion from across the pond.

This is the veranda that overlooks that famous (and first!) dry garden: rocks and raked pebbles. There is little left of the serenity that the original designer intended, I think...

Green cherry blossoms at Nanna-ji.

klik taking photo's of the gardens of Nanna-ji.

The green cherry blossoms are lovely - I had never seen them in that colour before.

And in the last picture, klik looks like a sneaky, ninja-photographer... who got caught. So, maybe not so ninja-like after all.

They were new to us as well. But if there's anything to do with cherry blossoms, the Japanese will take it to a whole new level. ;)

We were in Nijo castle, which has a so-called 'nightingale floor'. When you walk over it, the planks make a squeaky sound, like a bird chirping. This was done specifically to prevent ninja incursions! I guess that would also include photo ninja.
