Yesterday we went to Odaiba, to see the 1:1 scale Gundam 'model' that's in front of Diver City Odaiba. You have to see this thing up close to appreciate the size of the thing. Here's two shots that I made from up close -- using my camera's panorama setting.

OMG, you are actually in Japan. I forgot that your trip was so soon and that you'd be there now. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo jealous!!

I'm looking forward to your updates so I can live vicariously through you! Thanks for the post.

Actually, I send my updates by email, in Dutch, to a select few... I might post a few photos that I took with my camera, but don't expect any detailed reporting on here.

Holy wow. That is so cool. I can just picture small Japanese children falling screaming from it as they try to climb up and enter the suit. ;-)

Or maybe it isn't just a model. They've seen Terminator.

It's been roped off, and Japanese kids are too polite to pass the cordon. And we all know that only Japanese kids have the innate ability to pilot mecha -- so I guess we will never know, unless a cataclysm strikes. That being said, the climb up is so steep and there are so few hand- and footholds, and the thing is so tall, that I would think twice about trying to scale it...
