Dec. 29th, 2012 @ 09:17 pm Weird design choices
Current Mood: indescribableindescribable
Today we received a christmas card in the mail. That prominently featured a photo of a buddha statue. It wasn't even a generic 'holidays'-card -- no, it specifically said "Have a nice christmas" ("Prettige Kerst"). But it had no imagery on it to refer to christmas at all, just an orchid design to complement the photo.

I wonder how the design process went. Imagine you're designing a christmas card. What on earth inspires you to select a buddha statue as the center-piece? And even weirder: who gave the final approval for that design?

What I'm more curious about is not who manufactured it. If there's a market for it, it'll get made.
So who then is this market? Who enjoys combining Buddha and Christmas in a holiday-mash-up?

It's made by Bruna -- you can't get more mainstream than that. It's this one, by the way.
