First, a demonstration of the working of the Bubble Sort sorting algorithm, as visualised through the dancing of Hungarian folk dancers. Recommended viewing if you're interested in computer programming, algorithms, folk dancing or just plain weirdness!

Second, a video of the opening of a freakishly large egg.

I watched those with vast amusement yesterday. So much more interesting than using various length sticks and stop-motion.

They left out my favorite algorithm, the Heap Sort. It would have been tough to do, but not nearly as tough as the Quickest Sort.

I spent many hours coding and evaluating those in the 1980's, and for all around performance and resource use, the Heap was the most efficient. Not the fastest but least demanding of ram and most easily adapted to available drive/ram limits. I even coded a version for sorting flat disc database lists in place, so theoretically a database filling a hard drive could still be sorted. Slowly, but sorted.
