Japanese box

Yesterday evening we finished our 'Japanese' boxes and we made some photos as well.

The box that I made. Royal purple linen on the outside.

Closed with these bone pins. It was a lot of work to make 'em, and mine didn't come out too well -- they're still crooked.

To open it, you unhook the pins and lift the outer flap...

Then lift the inner flap...

And then you have the box to put a book in.

The inside of the box is lined with a decorative paper. Also purple, with gold crosses.

Showing off my handiwork.

My and klik's box. Hers is dark blue -- note that her clasps are so much straighter than mine.

The box isn't perfect -- especially when gluing the paper I had a bit of trouble. But I did learn some valuable lessons that I can use in future projects with carton. And that was the whole aim of the workshop in the first place.
