I've never known the work Erick did for Palladium, but I know him for the most courageous thing he did in RPG design history. Erick designed the Amber Diceless RPG, which I have played a lot. ADRPG was the first diceless RPG, a radical concept that even today gets raised eyebrows from some circles.
By doing so, Erick revolutionised the way we thought about RPGs, opening the floodgates for other RPGs that emphasised setting, characterisation and storytelling over rules. A huge step away from the D&D-clones that ruled the RPG landscape for so long.
Another RPG icon has passed on.
