Got the GPS upload working!

I noticed that the version of gpsbabel in the Ubuntu repositories is 1.3.3, while 1.3.4 has been out for more than half a year. Time to do a manual upgrade, by way of a source install.

Doing a source install also has the added bonus that I could compile in gpsbabel's own USB library, which means it would bypass the garmin_gps module. I disabled the garmin_gps kernel module, allowed non-root users to write to Garmin USB-devices, and now uploading works reliably!

This means one of the things that we still needed Windows for, has been solved.
