Patents ruin everything

Proponents of the patent system say that it protects innovators and rewards research. As such, it is supposedly a driving force behind new products and thus creates new jobs. "IP socialism" is supposedly the death of new ideas and will cost thousands of jobs.

But it is costing thousands of jobs as well.

Does anybody know of any compelling arguments against IP socialism?
