GPS and Linux

Turns out that it is impossible to upload stuff reliably to the GPS with gpsbabel under Ubuntu. I put the program in the highest debugging mode, and in the trace I see all the waypoints scroll by, followed by an ACK (presumably from the unit). But when I look at the list of waypoints, only part of those have actually been uploaded -- even with the wrong symbols.

Screw that -- I've spent enough time working on this, and nobody has a solution. We've installed the Garmin software on klik's Windows XP PC, and we'll be using that.
