PC Prive

In the Netherlands, there's an interesting tax construction called 'PC Privé'. It means that once every three years, you can buy a new computer for a maximum of EUR 2269 and your employer can pay the machine for you, from your salary before taxes. So you don't have to pay taxes for te machine. In my case, the computer is actually 42% cheaper!
Earlier this week, I heard on the radio that the maximum is going to be lowered to EUR 1480 by Januari 1st, 2004. I was planning on getting a new computer under this construction, but I wanted to wait a few months (we still have a loan from the wedding to pay off). However, things being what they are, we decided to buy that new system before then.

Motherboard: ASUS P4P800 Deluxe
Case: Cooler Master WaveMaster
Processor: Intel P4 3GHz
Harddisk: Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9, 120 GB
512 MB RAM
Terratec Aureon 5.1Sky (Yes, I know the mobo has an integrated 5.1 soundcard, but that one only has a digital output, and I want a digital input as well!)
Graphics card: Asus V9520/TD
Monitor: Philips 107B40 17" CRT
Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe (USB device, acts as a TV card, does hardware video compression)
Conceptronic graphics tablet
Logitech Cordless Desktop Deluxe
Yakumo Hypersound 124 (128 MB USB memory stick doubling as an MP3-player)
Scanner: Mustek Bearpaw 1200 CS
DVD Burner: Plextor PX-708A
CD-RW burner: Plextor PlexWriter 52/24/52A (Yes, I know that the DVD burner can burn CD-RW as well, but I like to have 'em both.)

Odds and ends: Power supply (350W), Headset, DVD-ROM, Win2000 Pro.

All in all, the system costs EUR 2216 -- which means I only 'pay' less than EUR 1300 for the complete system! I have to assemble everything myself as well, which I've never done before. Looking forward to doing that too!
