New anime

The Inexorable Anime Death Trudge continues! We stand knee-deep in the anime casualties, but still we press on!

We checked out Rumic Theatre: Mermaid Forest out (sorry, no AnimeNfo link -- they only have the 1991 OVA). It's based on the manga by Takahashi Rumiko (of Rumic Theatre fame), but instead of a series of unconnected stories, this is one story.
It's about a guy who travels all over Japan in search of mermaids. He happens upon this little village, populated by only women: either they are really old and ugly hags, or they are young and beautiful -- but all with the same face! They are more than he bargained for, and he ends up running away with a girl that was held captive in the village...
This is a really nice supernatural action series -- not as weird as Tsukihime is, but with more action. It reminded me of Ayashi no Ceres, but without the annoyng whining (at least, not in the first episode).

We also watched the first episode of Ai Yori Aoshi: Enishi, the second season of Ai Yori Aoshi, that we watched from begin to finish a few months back.
It's basically the same as the first season, but we found we just didn't care about the characters anymore. Watching it was more of a chore than a pleasure. We'll pass this one up for now.
