Yesterday I ran (in between the rainshowers), and I just returned from another running session. I have now fulfilled the minimum requirements of the first week of the program. I think I'll run another session (or maybe two) before the next week starts.
Even after only four sessions, I find that I recover more quickly from a jogging streak, and that I can maintain my initial speed during the jogging streaks. That is certainly encouraging.

I do have sore muscles, though. Especially the muscle opposite of the calf (don't know the English name, but it's the one on your shins). I called my physical therapist friend to ask if there is an exercise to train this muscle a bit extra, so that the running goes a bit smoother. It turns out that running is the exercise to strengthen that particular muscle...

It's funny -- I'm pretty independent-minded, but the encouragement I get from friends (and sometimes completely random strangers) does mean a lot.
