We've finished watching Asu no Yoichi!
. My first episode review is here
Karasuma Yoichi is training to become a samurai. Together with his father, he lives on an isolated mountain and simply trains and trains and trains. His style in swordfighting is the 'Ukiha Divine Wind' -- by waving his bokken, he can call up gusts of wind and even tornadoes. He has gotten too good for his father to be able to learn him anything new, so his father sends him off to train in the city -- at the dojo of the Ikagura family, who use the same style.
It just so turns out that the father and mother have left ('on a training mission' -- first rule of anime is to get rid of the parents!) and so Yoichi is taken in by the four Ikagura sisters.
Obviously, one boy who doesn't know anything about the modern world surrounded by four girls is just asking for trouble -- and trouble does ensue.
There's the 'accidental' groping, tripping over girls etcetera that drives Ibuki (the oldest sister) violent. Sure, that's fun and all, but random bursts of violence only stay funny for... five minutes or so. Luckily, there's a whole weird cast of characters that support the series:( Collapse )
The whole thing is suprisingly light on plot. There's some character development -- you get to know more about the characters as the series progresses, but it doesn't really go anywhere. The final three episodes make the series go out with a bang, but then it's back to the usual (apparently).
I had expected the series to have much more fanservice than it actually turned out to have. That's not a bad thing in itself -- but it is
clear the writers have a thing about breast size...
- Low-key comedy;
- Looks decent enough.
- Random violence perpetrated by the female lead against the male lead -- that's getting tired by now;
- Doesn't really go anywhere.
All in all, it's not worth much more than a 6.5.
