EEPROMs

I accidentally released the magic smoke from an EEPROM. I had switched the +5V and ground wires... the chip got blistering hot...

After rectifying the problem with a bit of small soldering work, I succeeded in writing and reading from an I2C EEPROM and reporting the results via RS232.
I intend to write a small Visual Basic program that will enable the user to upload binary data to a PIC 16F628A (my workhorse of choice), which will then put it in an EEPROM. Quite a bit of work, but at least I know it will work then -- unlike the EEPROM programmer kit I bought.
