The fub-LJ-Awards

The end of the year is perfectly suited for looking back. Who was this year's best love interest? Who had the largest mobile phone?

Judging this years' LJ-Awards was hard work for the jury -- but they managed in the end. With pleasure, I present to you the

The fub-LJ-Awards

This year, it's a tie for the "Still Not Graduated" award. The jury simply couldn't choose between breyten and alypat -- both still not graduated. We had prepared a "Graduated Just In Time For The New Year"-award, but sadly it won't be used this year.

The jury was unanimous in this category: gijsje was by far the most scary zombie they encountered this year.

As every year, there was a lot of meme's being posted on LJ. Competition for this award was hence quite fierce, but in the end rvdammit took the cake!

No contest here: damanique exhibited the most drama this year. Even when only able to read half of her posts due to various friends groups, the jury took only 15 seconds to determine the winner in this category.

As mobile phones become smaller and smaller, it gets harder every year to determine the winner in this category. However, it quickly became apparent that kees_s was the winner once some old military hardware was acquired.

After hours of carefully studying the various photographs of the various anime conventions, the jury awarded coronanl this award -- and deservedly!

Of all people who got a new job this year, babarage has found the best place: the work fits her, she is enthusiastic, and her boss loves her work. Keep up the good work!

paultje has planned her pregnancy to optimally cover the most of the year. This planning paid off: it got her the award for Best Pregnancy!

This is the hardest category to judge. It's not always possible for the jury to access the posts of the contestants in this category, so they have to rely on the reports of others. As a consequence, this category takes the longest to judge of all the categories. When all the reports had been accumulated and cross-referenced, rupertdaily scored the most points by far!

ashi spends most of his time doing things us mere mortals can only dream of. Whether it is cleaning his house or running UTP-cables across the ceiling, ashi leads his life constantly on the edge. Sometimes things go wrong, like when he broke his hip this year. The jury was especially impressed by the way he handled this setback -- before we knew it, he was pulling off his usual stunts again!

The prize in this category is, traditionally, one of the most hotly contested and closest calls. IRC is the traditional prowling ground of perverts of every walk of life. After careful analysis of various IRC-logs, the jury determined that fluffball showed complete mastery of the fine art of steering any conversation to the topic of sex. This uncanny talent earns him this award!

I never met velveteencat, and we seldomly comment on each other's postings. But that didn't stop her from sending me a kick-ass FLCL T-shirt that she had gone to tremendous trouble to acquire on my behalf. And all completely unprovoked! Impressive, most impressive -- I wear the shirt very often!

Now that arnoudens lives on his own, he has learned to love the daily tasks of housekeeping. In every entry, he carefully details his gastronomic adventures. Having worked in a snackbar back on Texel, he was already the favourite nominee to win this award -- but still he impressed the jury by using his deep-frier almost every single day!

After having dinner twice with ankie, it was immediately apparent that she would win the award for Best Dinner Date this year.

Whereas all of us are sometimes angry, halfnorn has perfected it to an art. Rage on!

Every once in a while, bakenius seems to vanish from the face of the earth. He locks himself up in his room, tortured by his artistic visions that edge him on to create. We only get to read about it afterwards, when he has re-emerged from his self-imposed exile, often with a new gem to show the world. The jury is pleased to present this award to him this year, in support.

According to the jury report, luna_puella shows that one can be (reasonably) mature and still appreciate the merits of a Disney soundtrack and the beauty of a Barbie doll -- though they question the historical accuracy of such concepts as Navajo and Viking princesses...

She's bright, she's young, she's international. After she graduated from highschool, it was immediate apparent that ontheseams would win the award for International Bright Young Thing this year. alypat and breyten better watch out, or she will beat them to graduation!

After careful study of the nude photos of all the people on LJ, the jury decided they liked usmu's nude picture the best. In the interest of keeping this entry PG-13, I will not quote anything out of the jury report...

Everyone knows gertvr is cute -- and that his chances on winning this award were high. Leaving several other contenders miles behind, he is now officially the Cutest EVAR!!!1!!one -- for 2004.

After not having seen her for quite a bit of time, shironuchan surprised friend and foe with the sheer shwooshyness of her new hair. Impressive, most impressive.

Apart from a few posts when another disaster within her social circle happened, everythingbutme dropped off LJ completely in 2004... She's still on my friendslist, though, in case of her return.

Not only does he kick everyone's ass at Soul Calibur II, sol_nuada showed the jury that he possesses more than mere twitching skills. Giving a performance that put John Travolta to shame, the jury was so impressed that they awarded this year's Best DDR Skills award to him!

Most of us are obsessed with one thing or another, but sillie82 takes hers to new heights. Just about every creative outlet she has, has been completely taken over by her obsession!

While not overly obsessed with any one thing, isabelgou has everybody beat when it comes to the sheer number of obsessions she maintains! The jury hopes she will keep up the good work for the next year, and seek out new cool things to obsess over.

If anyone had told me that xaviar_nl would turn out to be a very talented player of Theatre Sports, I would have laughed at them. But boy, would he have proved me wrong! After having finished two courses and being team captain at a competition, he has certainly shown that he has talent -- a talent that the jury would not have suspected he had.

The category of 'Mad Scientist of the Year' was the easiest to judge this year. greatbiggary can come up with a handful of cool and wild projects at the drop of a hat. The rest of humanity had better hope we never meet face-to-face -- the shift registers we use are pin-compatible, and we might be tempted to join our projects together. The resulting giant robot would wield a flesh-melting beam and shoot flaming ping pong balls of fiery death upon the unsuspecting population, and quickly conquer the world!

sbslink is an artist -- but you wouldn't know that, from reading her Journal. Sure, she does link to her Deviantart in her profile, but we rarely get to see a sample of her art posted on her Journal! As a way to encourage her to show more of her work, the jury awards her the award for Artist That Never Posts Any Of Her Art.

Via-via, cynni came to the attention of the jury. She turned out to be an anime addict -- even a local one! This, of course, could not go unpunished, and thus the jury inflicts the award for Best Local Anime Addict on her.

How do you know when exar has read your posts? Because he comments on everything he reads on LJ! This compulsion earns him this year's Compulsive Commenter award!

I consider jangerben a good personal friend. He even has a Journal -- but sadly, he never posts...

I don't remember how it started, but at a little competition who could produce the highest pitch with their voice, zolphia's scream almost shattered the windows. It took a week for the buzzing in my ears to subside... A deserved win in the category of Highest Pitched Voice!

Like last year, klik was this year's best love interest. Was there any doubt she'd win this award?

See you in the new year!
