Not everything that happened to us in 2020 was positive, and some things were downright hard. But looking back, I feel that the positives outweigh the negatives by quite a margin.
But that was just for us personally. I think this year has brought to light some structural failings in our society: how underpaid workers were deemed “essential” and forced to endure. How massive protests against structural and institutionalised racism did not really effect any change. How the super-rich became much richer at the expense of the poor. How the slide into authoritarianism and fascism continues, aided by misinformation campaigns.
Enough went wrong this year. Let us take that knowledge into 2021 and strive to do better next year.Crossposted from my blog. Comment here or at the original post.
