So our cats are named Rania and Riga. We don't dislike those names, but our 'naming convention' for cats is to use Japanese words. The names we thought of were Mikan ('tangerine') and Yuzu (another citrus fruit, a sweet lemon) -- because cats hate the smell of citrus fruit. ;)

So, what should we do? Keep their names as-is, or rename them?

I like your tradition of Japanese names, but am not really feeling Mikan and Yuzu as names. I like the matchy-ness of Rania and Riga better.

I am waaaay too late for voting, but I completely agree with luna_puella. The tradition of Japanese names suit your household, but the names don't match as well as their current names.
